Terms of Service

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of the VerifiedLocal website, mobile apps, and services (the “Platform”). By using the Platform you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Platform.

1. What VerifiedLocal is — and is not

VerifiedLocal is a technology platform, operated by DeployPoint.ai, that helps homeowners (“Customers”) find and connect with independent local service professionals (“Pros”). VerifiedLocal is not a contractor, home-services company, or provider of any repair, installation, or maintenance work. We do not perform services, employ the Pros, supervise their work, or control how, when, or whether a job is completed. Pros are independent businesses, not our agents, partners, or employees.

2. What “verified” means

Before a Pro can receive jobs, we verify their trade license against the state licensing board and verify their identity using a government ID and a live face check (to confirm the person is who their license says). If a Pro provides proof of insurance, we review it as well. We do this in good faith at onboarding, but we do not continuously monitor every Pro's license, insurance, or status, and we cannot guarantee that information is accurate, current, or complete at the time of your job. Customers are encouraged to independently confirm a Pro's license and insurance before work begins. The word “verified” describes our onboarding checks; it is not a warranty of any Pro's qualifications, conduct, or work.

3. Pricing, holds, and payments

Price ranges shown before a job are good-faith estimates based on recent comparable jobs in your area, not firm quotes. Your Pro confirms the final price after inspecting the job, and you approve it before work begins. If the job's scope changes, your Pro proposes the revised price and you must approve any increase before that work proceeds.

Payments for the repair, installation, or other work are made directly between you and your Pro. You pay VerifiedLocal nothing — there is no customer fee, and we do not hold, escrow, capture, or process the payment for the work itself; we are not a party to that payment. (Pros pay us a small per-lead connection fee, processed by Stripe, to receive your request — see Section 9.)

4. Our guarantees

Our guarantees are limited promises with the specific remedies described on the Platform:

Fair-price protection (every job): if a Pro cannot honor the locked fair-price range for a standard, fixed-scope job, we will re-match you with another Pro at no additional platform cost.

Verified pros (every job): before a Pro can receive jobs we verify their trade license against the state board and their identity (government ID + live face check), and review proof of insurance if provided. See Section 2 for the limits of this verification.

Workmanship — your Pro stands behind their work: each Pro is responsible for the quality of their own work and warranties it directly to you. If something is not right, we will help you reach your Pro to make it right. VerifiedLocal does not itself perform, fund, or guarantee any repair or re-do.

Our fair-price guarantee is our entire commitment regarding pricing, and is offered in place of, not in addition to, any implied warranty. It does not make us a party to the work, a guarantor of any Pro or their workmanship, or responsible for the payment between you and your Pro.

5. No warranty

The Platform and any match are provided “as is” and “as available.” Except for the express guarantees in Section 4, VerifiedLocal disclaims all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant the quality, safety, legality, or outcome of any work performed by a Pro.

6. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, VerifiedLocal will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or punitive damages, or for property damage, personal injury, or loss arising from the acts or omissions of any Pro. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Platform will not exceed the greater of the platform fees you paid us for the job at issue or US $100.

7. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold VerifiedLocal harmless from claims, damages, and expenses arising from your use of the Platform, your interactions with a Pro or Customer, or your breach of these Terms.

8. Communications consent

By submitting a request you consent to be contacted by phone, SMS, and email by your matched Pro and by VerifiedLocal at the number and address you provide, including via automated means. Consent is not a condition of any purchase. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to any text to opt out of SMS.

9. Pros: fees and billing

This section applies to Pros (service professionals). By accepting a lead, upgrading to a paid plan, or using paid features, you (the Pro) agree to the fees below, billed through Stripe to your payment method on file. You authorize us to charge that method for these fees.

Connection fee: when you accept an exclusive lead, we charge a per-lead connection fee. The amount is shown to you before you accept and varies by job type. The fee is for the introduction and is earned when charged — it is not contingent on whether you win or complete the job, and is non-refundable except where we issue a lead-quality credit under our then-current credit policy.

Subscriptions: optional Pro/Elite plans are billed in advance on a recurring monthly basis until cancelled. You can cancel anytime; cancellation stops future renewals and takes effect at the end of the current billing period. Amounts already billed are non-refundable except where required by law.

Chargebacks: initiating a chargeback for a validly-incurred fee — instead of using our credit process — is a breach of these Terms and may result in suspension and collection of the amount owed.

You keep 100% of what you charge the Customer — VerifiedLocal does not take a commission on your work or collect the Customer's payment. We may change fees prospectively with notice posted on the Platform.

10. Dispute resolution; arbitration; class waiver

Any dispute between you and VerifiedLocal will be resolved by binding individual arbitration, not in court, except that either party may bring a claim in small-claims court. You and VerifiedLocal waive any right to a jury trial and to participate in a class action.These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. Disputes with a Pro about the work itself are between you and the Pro.

11. Changes

We may update these Terms. Material changes will be posted here with a new effective date, and your continued use of the Platform constitutes acceptance.
